Counseling

Academic counseling at Cuesta College is designed to help students successfully navigate their educational journey.

It involves working one-on-one with a trained academic counselor to:

  • Academic success strategies
  • Development of a Student Education Plan (SEP)
  • Academic probation and dismissal concerns
  • Graduation requirements & evaluation
  • Career planning and exploration
  • Student resource referrals (i.e. CalWORKs, EOPS, DSPS, Academic Success Coaches etc.)
  • Course selection/Class planning
  • University transfer planning/application help

Counselors are ready to meet with you online via video, by phone or in-person.

Plan Your Classes
Counselors help students choose the right classes based on their goals—whether that's earning a degree, transferring to a university, or completing a certificate program.

Stay on Track
They create educational plans called SEPs that map out semester-by-semester what classes a student needs to graduate or transfer, helping avoid wasted time or unnecessary units.

Explore Options
Academic counseling is also a space to discuss career goals, majors, transfer opportunities, and how to align your coursework with your interests and aspirations.

Solve Academic Challenges
If you're struggling in a class, thinking about dropping a course, or unsure how to improve your GPA, counselors can guide you through your options and connect you with resources.

Support for Every Step
Whether you’re brand new to college or returning after time away, academic counseling gives you a clear path forward—and someone to walk it with you.
